DALAT: The Sarawak state government’s commitment to the welfare of its people was once again demonstrated through the organisation of the 'Sejambak Kasih' Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2025 event in Dalat District.
Sarawak Minister for Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development, who is also the Dalat State Assemblywoman (ADUN), Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, stated that the 'Sejambak Kasih' programme, which has been running for over 25 years, reflects the government’s concern in ensuring that the welfare of the people is continuously safeguarded, regardless of racial or religious background.
“The 'Sejambak Kasih' event is not only held for Aidilfitri but also extends to other major celebrations such as Chinese New Year, Gawai Dayak, Christmas, and Deepavali.
“However, for Deepavali, this programme is only implemented in the Kuching Division,” she said while officiating the event on Friday.
Dato Sri Fatimah further explained that the annual programme aligns with the state government's mission to foster community well-being and alleviate the burdens of the people, especially those in need.
At the event, each recipient received RM100 in cash and a hamper, along with additional contributions such as a bag of rice from Dalat Food Convenience Store, fabric from Jasmin Jawahar Sdn Bhd, and two 'Homecare Beds' from the Yayasan Cinta Amal foundation.
Held at the Dalat Welfare Complex, the event benefitted a total of 150 recipients from underprivileged groups in preparation for the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations.
Also present at the event were Mukah Division Resident, Datu Kueh Lei Poh, representative of Mukah Division Welfare Department, Nurfathira Abdul Rashid, Dalat District Officer, Mathew Hubert, and Mukah Division, Temenggong Hendi Suhai. -UKASnews
