MUKAH: A total of 239 food aid baskets from the Mukah Division Social Welfare Department (JKM) and the P213 Mukah Service Centre were distributed to residents of Kampung Teh, Kampung Tabo, and Kampung Sau, which were cut off due to flooding.

Mukah District Officer, Peleadzman Ahip, said that the distribution covered three severely affected areas.

Kampung Teh received 123 food baskets, followed by Kampung Tabo with 41 and Kampung Sau with 75.

"Other villages affected by the flood will also receive food aid in stages," he said on Tuesday.

Due to road closures, the distribution operation had to be carried out using fishing boats and small vessels.

The operation involved cooperation from the Civil Defense Force (APM), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), RELA, and the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).

Councillor Sameon Yusuf, representing Balingian Assemblyman, Abdul Yakub Arbi, expressed gratitude for the strong collaboration between all parties in ensuring the smooth distribution of aid to flood victims.

He also urged affected residents in other areas to remain patient as assistance would be delivered in due course.

Also present were Mukah Division Social Welfare Officer, Dariel Thiong Yiew Seng, Mukah District Civil Defense Officer, Capt (PA) Zuriza Sharkawi, Mukah District Police Chief, DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, Mukah District Office representative, Nolin Gendang, and local village chiefs. -UKASnews
